It has been a pleasure to share over 70 recipes for our Sunday Supper and I’m looking forward to many many more!!This day is even more special since we’re partnering with Idaho® potatoes in creating some delectable Poutine-Inspired recipes to celebrate our four-year anniversary!!Wait till you see the line-up we have for you!

Paneer Tikka Potato Poutine Bites

You know that I love potatoes! My recipes using potatoes are far too many to share here but I particularly loved using Idaho® potatoes in my Indian Spiced Potato Pastry Shells and they’re always popular with our guests. Idaho® potatoes’ Russet Potatoes are my favorite and I use them in most of my potato recipes.Idaho® potatoes have a unique taste and texture due to ample mountain-fed irrigation and rich Volcanic soil. Look for the “Grown In Idaho” seal to get top quality Idaho® potatoes in  your grocery stores.

Spicy Roasted Potatoes

I loved this Poutine Challenge thrown at us by Idaho® potatoes and decided to give my own Indian-Inspired spin on Poutine. Poutine is classic French Canadian dish of fries, cheese curds and gravy that I first tasted in Montreal. It was to die for! It has now gone global with chefs creating their own versions in different parts of the world! For today’s recipe I’ve come up with a savory spicy paneer tikka served over some garlicky roasted Potatoes that have been sliced and coated in warm aromatic spices like cumin and garam masala. I’ve made an Indian masala sauce to drizzle over these beauties and I have to tell you that they’re absolutely phenomenal!

Paneer Tikka Potato Poutine Bites 1

Paneer is an Indian cheese that’s easily available these days at your local grocers or if you’re lucky to have Indian grocers nearby. You can also make it at home following this recipe. The paneer is cubed and marinated in yoghurt and some spices for a few hours to soak the deliciousness and then grilled until nice and golden. The potatoes are coated in a spice mix and roasted in a preheated oven and deliciously crispy. Indian masala sauce consisting of onions, tomato, spices and cream is drizzled over the assembled poutine bites and the robust flavors tease your palate like none other. The contrasting flavors from the smoky paneer tikka on top of the crispy spicy potatoes smothered in a slightly sweet and rich creamy sauce is pure joy! Enjoy!

Beet Hummus

By Soni Sinha

Beet Hummus

There’s something magical about the holidays. It just brings about a renewed energy and enthusiasm to plan your perfect gathering. But it can also be quite stressful if you’re not used to cooking for a crowd. The key to reducing your stress is to plan things in advance.Write down the menu, prepare the grocery list accordingly, and prep up as much as possible a day in advance.I personally believe that a wide spread of appetizers are the key to a party. They get the guests started and give you the opportunity to serve flavors from around the world in small bites. But you don’t have to go overboard with complicated dishes, instead go with simple yet tantalizing flavors in your dishes.

Our calendars are marked with parties almost every weekend leading up to Thanksgiving and keeping that in mind, I’ve been working on a few recipes that I’ll be sharing with you over the course of the next few weeks and hoping you’ll try them and enjoy.

Beet Hummus 2

My first recipe is an easy Beet Hummus that tastes amazing and looks absolutely stunning with a vibrant pink color. This dip is a great addition to your party menu, that’s bound to get your guests raving.I first tasted Beet Hummus in a Moroccan restaurant and immediately fell in love with its gorgeous color. The flavors from the beet give the hummus a slight hint of sweetness which when combined with the garlic, lemon and the chickpeas just rounds up the perfect balance of sweet, salty and tangy. I didn’t have any tahini on hand, hence went ahead without it and it was still delicious.

The process starts with roasting the beet in the oven and then adding the rest of the ingredients in your food processor. It can be made a day in advance and is best served chilled with any chips of your choice or crudites. It lasts for up to a week in the fridge. My kids loved it for their school snack too!Enjoy.

Olive Oil Cake

01 | 10 | 2015
By Soni Sinha

Life is all about enjoying simple pleasures.

Like this simple cake..

I started making this cake as I was craving for something sweet. But little did I expect that my kids would be raving and going for seconds since it’s a tad different from the cakes that they’re used to.This cake uses Olive Oil instead of butter and going by the response in our family it certainly looks like a new favorite!

Olive Oil Cake

Olive Oil Cake is a easy dessert that uses ingredients you have on hand..I first thought this cake would have a strong Olive oil flavor but it has just a slight hint of the Olive Oil along with the vanilla and tastes delicious. Its perfectly moist and fluffy.I’ve kept it simple although you can make different variations using lemon or orange.I followed this recipe except for the orange juice and zest since I didn’t have any at hand and it still turned out perfect!A little sprinkling of powdered sugar is all you need to dress it up.

Olive Oil Cake 1

Enjoy it as a light snack or dessert with your cuppa! As for me I’ve just made a bigger batch since my kids wanted it for their school snack too.Happy Mom 🙂

Roasted Red Pepper Dip with Mint

Roasted Red Pepper Dip with Mint

We’re all constantly on the look out for easy crowd pleasing recipes.I’ve always believed that appetizers are the star of a party.Don’t we all just love to nibble on them while sipping our favorite drink and enjoying a conversation? I like a good spread of appetizers when I entertain and love experimenting with different flavors for my next party. The recipe I have for you today came about as a result of some mint waiting to be used and I saw the perfect opportunity to use them when I spotted a jar of roasted red peppers sitting forlornly in my pantry.A dip combining the two sounded very appetizing and I was on my task.

Roasted Red Pepper Dip with Mint 3

Dips are always popular and can be whipped-up in no time even if you have unexpected guests. They taste delicious and can be quite addictive. You can get creative by adding nuts, cream cheese or mayonnaise, spices etc to flavor your dips and it’s always a hit with kids and adults.

Roasted Red Pepper Dip with Mint

This dip has a vibrant red color and a slight kick from the cayenne.I’ve used walnuts for some body and texture and of course the mint flavors it to perfection. The result is a smoky, peppery, nutty dip just waiting to be devoured.Serve it with crudités, pita or any chips of your choice.Enjoy!

Indian Spiced Roasted Fennel and Goat Cheese Salad

Indian Spiced Roasted Fennel and Goat Cheese Salad

Hello!!

I’ve been missing in action since I was away on a family Holiday to the UK. It’s our second home since the hubs and I have family there and we’ve lived in various parts of UK including London, Walsall and Edinburgh. We had a great time meeting our families, attending my cousins’ engagement ceremony and also got to meet an old school friend after 20 years!!Our trip also involved going down the memory lane and showing our kids our old place in London and favorite local areas apart from the famous landmarks. The trip was fantastic and the weather gods were very kind since we had some gorgeous days with plenty of sunshine. Here are some pics from our London trip.

London

Just before we left for our holiday, I made this amazing salad that I have to share with you. You know how much I love Fennel. The sweet flavors reminiscent of licorice and anise are very refreshing and my favorite way to use them is by roasting them until they’re slightly golden and the flavors come through. Some other examples of using fennel are over here and here. But this recipe I have for you today has it all.The flavors, the richness, the elegance and the ease of the oven doing the work for you.

Indian Spiced Roasted Fennel Goat Cheese Salad

I like to use Indian spices in my roasted vegetables. Ground Cumin and coriander work perfectly with almost anything. Adding garlic is imperative while roasting veggies. Don’t you agree? My last minute idea of adding some smooth and delicate goat’s cheese is the icing on the cake here that does wonders to this salad. The complex flavors from the spices and the garlic with the sweetness of the fennel combined with the tangy creamy goat’s cheese is all you need in your life. Trust me.
